Spring Break: Chicago Calls

Hello my dear blog readers!

I was lucky/unlucky enough to finish my finals yesterday, on the first day of finals week!!!  Such a relief to be all done and be on spring break!!!  Other benefits of spring break include more sleep and a more frequently updated blog.  Yay!  Everyone wins!!

Here is what I did on my first day of spring break...

I woke up this morning at about 8:30 and headed down to breakfast at the hotel that my mom and I are staying at for the next couple of nights.  I had a bagel and some Special K so it was pretty good.  We decided that we were going to head to the Chicago Institute of Art for the morning so we left our hotel around 9 and walked over to Millennium Park.  I saw the bean for the first time which is definitely a touristy thing that you should check out if you're ever in the Chicago area!

We chilled in the park for another hour and then headed to the Art Institute right as it opened at 10:30.  I'm a huge fan of modern art while my mom is a fan of the impressionists so we took turns walking through our favorite galleries and then looked at some more pieces.

By the time we were done looking at art it was about 1:00 so I was getting a little hungry.  I knew that Pinkberry was close to our hotel so my mom and I decided that we would hold off on eating until we got to Pinkberry.  Unfortunately, I love shopping way too much for my own good and we ended up grabbing sandwiches at 2 because we were still 10-15 blocks away from Pinkberry.

During the school year, I commonly suffer from food comas...aka I get really tired after I eat lunch.  So I told my mom that I wanted to go back to the hotel and take a nap, and that's what we did.  After a 45 minute nap we were ready to hit Michigan Avenue!  First stop, Pinkberry, which was good but definitely not as good as Freeziac.  Then we walked up State Street to the Juicy Couture and Tory Burch stores.  On our walk, I realized that Sprinkles cupcakes was SUPER close by...so we stopped in and got 4 cupcakes for the next couple of days!

One of the best places to shop in Chicago is Topshop, so I had to stop in and get a couple things!!   It was getting close to 5:30 so we decided to head to a restaurant to get our names in so we could eat by 7:30.  We decided on the Frontera Grill which was pretty good.  I'm not a super huge fan of Mexican food and all there food had lots of salt (my fingers are going to be puffy tomorrow :( ).

Sometime between Topshop and eating dinner we also managed to stop at my favorite store in the entire world...Nordstroms...for an hour.  We'll probably be back tomorrow...

Evening Shenanigans included me taking a shower sans shower shoes (a super awesome thing if you've ever lived in a dorm), 2 episodes of house hunters, a cupcake, and an 11:30 bed time.  Sweet.

Goodnight Blogger-world,
Kat
